Food Service Professionals

The attachments are in support of the Go for Green nutritional awareness
program developed by CDR Willcox of the LRMC Nutritional Care Division.

“GO FOR GREEN” is based on the MEDCOM wide initiative called which
requires foods to be identified with the classifications shown on the left.


Information cards will include:
• Portion size
• Calorie and sodium content
• Cook’s name
• Price

The 3 classifications of foods:
RED: Entrees greater than 750 calories or >40% calories from fat. Sides
greater than 350 calories or >40% calories from fat.
AMBER: Entrees >550 calories or 31-40% calories from fat. Sides greater
than 225 calories and 31-40% calories from fat.
GREEN: Entrees less than 550 calories and 30% or less calories from fat.
Sides less than 225 calories and 30% or less calories from fat.

Entrée Example:
Fried Chicken: RED
Baked Chicken: AMBER
Skinless Chicken: GREEN


Beverage Example:
Chocolate Milk: RED
2% Milk: AMBER
Skim Milk: GREEN

Side Example:
French Fries: RED
Potatoes Au Gratin: AMBER
Roasted Potatoes: GREEN
