Here is an email I recieved recently:

Hello, my name is Kent Whitaker and I am a chef and cook book author. Let me say that you have a GREAT SITE! My son is in the National Guard and a Cadet at North Georgia College And State University - one of the few Senior Military Schools. And he had a great suggestion.

I am working on a state by state series with a publisher. The books feature not only history, info on food festivals, food available in the state but also recipes from people living and working in the state as well as some of my own featuring things like Peaches, peanuts, Vidalia Onions for the Georgia book. Or beef, chillies and spices for the Texas book. Georgia, Tennessee and TExas are done but I am now working on Alaska.

My son mentioned getting Military Chefs in Alaska to submit a recipe. I thought that was a great idea. Active duty, reserve, volunteer, retired. Everyone that has a recipe used gets a credit line in the book as well as a free book from Great American Publishers when the book is finished.

My question is, do you know any Chefs in Alaska? In the service? I have plenty of info and recipes from commercial chefs, but I would really like to include Military Chefs in the Alaska book, as well as future books. In honor of my son's service and of course the Chef's service.

I'm looking for some active duty, retired or volunteer Chefs or Cooks from military - All services - station or were formally stationed in Alaska. Recipes submissions in the areas of Beef, Pork, Chicken and Seafood as an Appetizer or Dip, sauce etc. Deserts are open as well. Seafood recipes, Wild Game, Veggies, Sides, Beverages are alreay filled. The book, Alaksa Hometown Cookbook, is being written by me Kent Whitaker. Other states will follow. Georgia, Tennesse and Texas are already finished and available. Everyone that submits a recipe gets a credit line on the recipe as well as a free copy of the book.

Please email me, Kent Whitaker, at thedeckchef@hotmail.com
