I like the sounds of this competition! Do I have to be registered as a Military Chef to participate? I have wide background, I'm not a qoute on qoute, "Military Chef";however, I do have credentials and skill sets.

Update 1 08-18-2010

Captains:

Due to last year’s success and the video of the event, the buzz is starting to get overwhelming. It is going to be a blast. My goal this year is to focus more on sticking to the high end BBQ theme and less on the teams advanced preparations. I also want to raise as much money as possible for The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund.

Coca-Cola is planning to give each contestant a gift card from Coca-Cola for $200 as a reward for your selection as a team member of the event and just like last year MillitaryChefs.com will be certifying each contestant with a MilitaryChef Certification so, if you haven’t already, please finalize your teams please get me their names, bios and a pic.

There will be 5 Belts being awarded in 5 categories:
1 - Military Chef Challenge Winner ACF W: Overall winner of the Competition (3 ACF Judges)
2 - People’s Choice Award: The Guests Favorite Team (Guests Judge)
3 - Kansas City BBQ Award: Kansas City BBQ Judge's Choice (Kansas City Judge)
4 - Best BBQ Sauce: Judges pick (All Judges)
5 - The Michael Angelo: Best display of tallow, ice and buffet presentation (Pastry Chef Judge)
Teams can also win ACF Medals in Ice Carving, Tallow Sculptures and Wild Card Catagories.

Team profiles are up. Once again, please turn in missing bios and pictures and soon as you can so the site can be updated.

Check them out here:
http://www.militarychefs.com/1...2010Contestants.html

On Sunday the 26th of September gift cards for $1,500 (or more depending on the cost of the meat) will be issued to team Captains. Refrigerator trucks will be open for storage early Sunday Morning. Your meats will be already purchased to include enough for over 100 bite size portions of baby back ribs, beef brisket, pork shoulder and whole chickens.

No food can be prepared before the day of the event. Everything will be prepared on site.

I need you to go to Rosseto web page and send me your request for Liteware:
http://www.rosseto.com/Gallery/?g=75

Check out what they did with the liteware last year here:
http://www.militarychefs.com/1...allenge2009Pics.html

You will be need to order 100 for each of your 6 products. Please get this to me as soon as possible so I may place the order.

New Chef is providing Chefs Coats again this year and needs the names of your team members so.. once again let’s confirm the teams and get the names to me so I can place this order.

5 rental vans will be present at Sunday morning at Bolling for transportation of stores . The vans will be available all day Sunday. Your common pantry is the commissary. Call them in advance if you need something special ordered.

If all teams vote yes I will allow two runners, provided by your service through team captains, to join your team. They will not be able to touch food products unless they are being served. They can start working with the team after 0800.

Team captains will be receiving 25lbs of chocolate tallow and a carving kit shortly. Tallow will be produced before the event and carvings should represent the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. Your sculpture will be auctioned off for this charity. We will also be auctioning off chefs coats and other items to support the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund.

Teams will be required to carve an ice carving on the day of the event. All tools will be provided. Each team will have 3 hours to complete their carving. Ice carving schedule will be as follows: 0700-1000 Marines ---- Air Force/Coast Guard 1000–1300 ---- Army and Navy 1300–1600

We need your invites as soon as possible. Invites are going out Friday. You may think you don’t want to invite anyone now but once the buzz about the event get as big.. or bigger than it was last year you will be begging me for invites.

I also need your coca-cola drink recipes. Examples Here:
http://www.militarychefs.com/1...llenge2009Punch.html

What your team is responsible for:

Update 2: 8-26-2010

Team Captains,

Updates:

Tables Requests: I can rent any type of the following tables for your buffet: 8ft, 6ft or 5ft Rounds and 8ft or 6 ft Rectangles. Please let me know what you need.

The 7 required dishes are: Pulled Pork Dish, Beef Brisket Dish, Chicken Dish, Baby Back Rib Dish, Fish Dish, Dessert and drink with Coca-Cola product. Each dish can be accompanied by any vegetable, salsa, starch or whatever you choose. You can do extra dishes as well.

Fish will not be provided. You must purchase your fish on Sunday.

You do not have to purchase everything at the commissary. You can shop where ever you want on Sunday. Please keep in mind that Coca-Cola would like you to shop at the commissary and that the commissary is willing to take pre orders of the items you need.

I will have contact information for the commissary shortly so you can place orders for food.

To be safe I would order specialty items and your regular shopping list items to make sure the commisary has what you need.

I’m trying to get the commissary opened for teams to start shopping at 6am the day of the event (it will be no later than 7am.)

You can arrive anytime on Sunday. After 2400 Saturday night it’s fair game. I plan to have everything set up by 5 am Sunday.

Grills and charcoal will be ready Saturday night.

Runners are provided by team captains. They may be used from 8:00 am on. They must not wear chefs coats. Optional Coca-Cola T shirts will be provided to each runner. Runners can not prep food. They are gophers (Go for this go for that).

ACF Medals will be awarded in Category W (Wild Card) for the overall event.

ACF Ice Carving Category H-1 — One man, Single block individual freestyle

ACF Center Piece Category D — Showpieces, Professional, Individual

You will be receiving Medals if you score high enough to place.

Thanks!

Update 3

Captains,

LiteWare Orders:
I need your Rosseta LiteWare Orders. I need to make the order now and I'm missing a couple orders. If I do not get an order from you, your team will end up with leftover dishes. Please go here http://www.rosseto.com/Gallery/?g=75 and let me know your needs. Right when the delivery comes in I will hand deliver the dishes to you. Thanks!

Flags and Individual Service Stuff:
Last year some teams forgot to bring flags and stuff to show off your individual service. Please try and pin down a large flag to place near your kitchen and buffet. (They will be separated this year.) Kitchen will be on the basket ball court and the buffets will be in the pavilions. The Event Map will be updated soon.

Gift Cards:
You will receive the gift card Sunday morning 0500. 2 $750 gift cards per team. Meats have been purchased and will be in the Refrigerator Truck Saturday Night.

Invites:
Coca-Cola wants to allow the competitors to invite more personal guests this year. If you want to add more friends and family to the guest list please let me know.

Coca-Cola Drinks:
I need your drink recipies for the web page.

Tallow:
You should have received your tallow and a carving kit. Feel free to cover objects with the tallow. As long as the non tallow parts are not visible it is legit.

Rubs:
You can use rubs on meats and wood chips before the Commissary Opens. If you need to purchase items to get your meats on the grills before the commissary opens you can. Remember to save some money on your gift card to pay yourself back.

Special Orders For Bolling Commissary:
Any special orders can be submitted directly to Bolling Comissary.

Everything is coming together smoothly. It's going to be a fun competition!

Update 4

Captians,

Quick update (It's getting very busy around here!):

Need your drink recipes.

Need any bios/pics that have not been submitted.

Need the ACF attached form to be filled out.

Grill Sergeant Brad Turner is MCing the event.

We have a good DJ this year.

Weather looks good and we have a back up plan if it isn't.

We have more staff working the event this year.

Made my first shopping trip today (many more will follow, I'll keep on posting pics of the every growing pile of stuff) Coca-Cola wants this years event to be about you guys (ie the $200 gift cards for each competitor, unlimited invites for competitors, five belts, ACF medals for placement and so on) I'm sure I will be able to give each team a bit of this stuff once it is over. Each team can definitely grab a knife set, a couple butane burners, all the utensils, the pots and pans and maybe a few other things.

Have these turkey fryers coming in with pasta and fryer attachments (for frying and boiling stuff):

You can bring any other supplies you feel you need!

I'll be bringing your LiteWare and Chef Coats to you soon.

Commissary will be opened at 6 but you can not make a purchase until 7:00. They usually open at 10:00 on Sundays so they are doing us a big favor opening up early. So lets try and spend some money there.

The Judges:

Judge - CIA Master Chef Judge Rudy Speckamp

Judge - ACF Executive Chef Judge Stafford T. DeCambra

Judge - ACF Executive Chef Judge Dave Turcotte

Judge - ACF Pastry Chef Judge Elena Clement

Judge - CIA Culinary Educator Judge Tama Murphy

Judge - CIA Chef Judge John DeShetler

Judge - KCBS Chef Judge

Coca-Cola is hiring a photographer and plans to distribute articles of the event via multiple media outlets and through advertising.

There are some other updates but I can't think of them right now.

More will follow soon.

Thank you! This is going to be a blast.
