Hello Chefs, specialists, & more. I asked Mr. Swenson if I could post this query in the forum and he gave me the OK.

I am a cookbook writer and author. I am also the son of a US Army Vet and proud Army Strong father and nephew. I am also a member of the Patriot Guard and the Blue Star Riders in honor of all of our service men and women as well as vets.

I am currently working on a small book that if all goes well will allow my wife and I to not only meet some wonderful people but also make bigger contributions to our local VA clinic as well donate to our sons college ROTC program.

The book is a collection of food related memories from veterans and service men and women of all branches, all eras. I have a growing collection of memories from WWII vets to the present including a nurse who dinned with Churchill, PT boat cooks, an astronaut and people serving today.

Some of the stories are just down right funny, some make you think, some are sad and some just say avoid the MRE - Five Fingers of Death and S.O.S.

I was hoping to add some thoughts from today's military Chefs and food specialist in the way of Favorite Meal Served, Best Food Memory, Strangest place you've ever cooked, dish you wish to forget, or any fun food related military memory you wish to share in a short few lines or paragraphs.

I have had help from the Fort Lee QM Museum, The NAVY historian, Coast Guard Historian as well as many more.

Any thought would be appreciated. All stories are credited as such

Thank you for your service, and hopefully I will meet some of you in the kitchen in the future.

Thanks Kent Whitaker
