I’m a PR representative for the Almond Board of California, and we have just launched a recipe contest for foodservice professionals that your military chef audience may be interested in. The Ultimate Snack-Off Recipe Contest challenges participants to come up with creative ideas for using almonds in snack dishes targeted to men. The grand prize is an Ultimate Sports Weekend football season finale prize package (approximate retail value up to $10,000). We’ve been advised by ACES at Fort Lee that “As private citizens, soldiers can participate in this contest, but if they are representing the Army and/or using Army products and facilities then the prize money may become subject to the Army's scrutiny.” As long as contest participants document on the entry form that they have some kind of professional foodservice affiliation – such as military chef – they are welcome to participate on their own time as a private citizen, from our perspective.
