"I was wondering if you could tell me who to call? I competed in the 2005 Culinary competition in Fort Lee, VA. I received a bronze medal but i did not have my ACF number at the time. I was wondering how i can get documentation of receiving the medal. Thanks."
The documentation is the certificate that accompanies the medal. It should be considered a personal award, so there fore you would use the same procedure that requires documentation when you recieve a personal military decoration or award. Submit it to your awards section and whether it can be reflected as a personal award depends solely on your military branches rules and regulations on awards. I am not the guru on this subject matter but I am speaking from prior experience. You do not have to belong to the ACF to get military recognition for your accomplishment!Good Luck!
The medals are classified as professional, contemporary, student, and ice. They no longer put numbers on the back of the medal so it's kind of hard to track them; however, if you won an ACF medal the ACF national office has a record of it. When the Culinary Show Chairman at Fort Lee issued you your medal he had to account for it by placing your name on the list he sent back to the ACF. The ACF did go through some changes in the last 5 years with issuing certificates with medals. I'm pretty sure they were issuing certificates with the medals in 2005. They may or may not issue you another certificate. If they do issu you another certificate they will most likely charge you a fee of about $5.00. You can call Tracy Smith at the ACF and ask her for assistance. She was working in the events management office when you would have received the certifcate and she is still working there now. The number is 1 800-624-9458.
Let me know if this helps.
